I’ve decided to start posting a few tutorials on my DIY projects, so with out delay, here it is, my first:
How-To Tuesday!!!
This one is a super easy way to add some flare to plain old sandals. You just need a pair of sandals, (or flip-flops, or strappy high heels), some fabric (I recommend something silky or gauzy), and a pair of scissors.
1 - Take your fabric and cut it into strips, I made mine into a bow-tie shape with pointed ends. These look like feathers once you’ve tied it around the straps, but you could do just rectangular strips too. I used about 15 strips for each shoe, but you may need more or less depending on the weight of your fabric, the length of the strap, etc. Be sure not to make them too long, you don’t want them dragging on the floor when you’re wearing your new shoes. Mine are about 4-5 inches long each.
2 - Start knotting your strips around the sandal strap. Be sure to keep the ends even as you tie, and make sure the knots are tight.
3 - Continue tying your strips, keeping everything tight together all the way down the length of your sandal’s strap.
4 - Finished! Your fancy new sandals are ready to wear!
